Simple Coding is a fully online introduction to programming that requires no software installation nor any user account.

The webpage linked above takes a few seconds to load due to the embedded programming environment.

For details on the programming environment used, see the extended version of my article in the Spring 2016 issue of Switched On.

Level: Beginner

Duration: 1 hour

Teaches: Uses the Python language to introduce the concepts of

  • algorithm, sequence, selection, iteration
  • commenting and testing
  • variables and expressions (boolean, arithmetic)
  • data types: strings, integers, floats, lists
  • input and output
  • calling functions
