About us

We’re here for all local colleagues

Our East Dorset Community aims to helps share best practice between all our schools. Whether across the three tier system in Dorset or the two tier system in BCP.

FUS has got the facilities to help

Our school site has excellent physical computing facilities to aid staff CPD including a dedicated Raspberry Pi lab, graphics engineering suite and two multi-purpose computer rooms with adaptable desking to aid a huge array of physical computing components.

Our facilities

Voyager Lab Galileo Lab Webb Digital Hub
Our Raspberry Pi lab has its own pi-net network with 20 pis and a demo machine connected to a large TV. The room houses our 3D print facilities and Lego Mindstorm Kit. This 32 suite computer lab is used by media or high end graphical engineering with HD Screens and high spec PCs for photo & video editing The Webb Digital Hub is composed of two 32 seat computer suites (Named Cassini and Curiosity Lab) purpose built in 2020 as a result from a £100,000 award from the Wolfson Foundation. Adaptable & larger desking make for flexible lesson setups including robotics, electrical engineering or completely unplugged!

We can cover and discuss anything

Our centre offers computing courses up to Key Stage 5 and from 2022 will be the first in Dorset to launch Digital T Levels. Our aim is to support local schools in developing their practice in general computing pedagogy to enhance student experience and engagement with the subject.
