CAS Newcastle West Hub
CAS Newcastle is a centre of excellence for Computer Science. The partnership is led by two CAS Master teachers with a plethora of experience and expertise, both inside and outside of the classroom.
As part of St Cuthbert’s Teaching School we have nurtured links both regionally and nationally in order to ensure that CAS Newcastle West has access to the most up to date CPD opportunities available.
At the core of the hub is its innovative approach to the new and varied educational landscape. Our focus is on the stimulating and academic aspect of an extremely challenging curriculum area which has recently undergone major changes.
The vision of the hub is that, in coordination with our strategic partners, we are able to offer regular, challenging and supportive opportunities for both specialists and non-specialists who work within the remit of Computer Science.
The two fundamental areas that we will explore in the calendared events will be subject knowledge enhancement (for all levels) and fluency in exam practice (at both KS4 and KS5). In addition to this we will be able to offer support for primary transition, enrichment activities and STEM links from our strategic partners: Accenture, Siemens, Nissan, LEGO and CAS Master teachers throughout the region.
