Location: Cathays High School. Computer Room #32

Level: Beginners

Led by Julie Mason (Cathays: KS3 Curriculum Leader; teacher of Computer Science and Maths) this session will use a ‘worked example’ to illustrate one way to approach the use of Python for a GCSE software development task.

Python is an important component of your school’s computing toolkit. Download Python here (v3.6.5). Install it anywhere you need it (read the licence here).

The level is introductory so will suit anyone who knows next to nothing or just a little! 

Julie’s workshop will include demonstrations, short exercises and takeaways to get started on a sample software development task. The session will use the school computer room for practical examples.

The sample software development task is from Sample Assessment Materials, page 55, WJEC GCSE Computer Science Unit 3.
