#CASWalkabout is like a school trip for teachers.

It's a social event for a group of teachers and non-teachers with a common interest in STEM, Computer Science and Computing education (5-18 years) at a public event. By joining our monthly meetup, you will be able to indulge your interests and passion and hopefully gain some inspiration, ideas and resources for activities to use with your classes or community.

This month's theme: Medical Marvels

Programme:

  • 6.45-7.15pm Meet & greet in the Energy Cafe (Level 0, next to the gift shop) this is where we'll plan our itinerary for the evening as well as sharing news of events, projects, resources that support the teaching of #Computing in school and #DigitalMaking. It provides a chance for you to grab a drink or byte to eat. If you have something interesting to share, please bring it with you - but it will need to pass the security checks at the entrance!
  • 7.15-9.00pm Walkabout - We'll wander around together, exploring the different talks, activities and demonstrations throughout the evening. If you refer to the programme released a day or two beforehand on the Science Museum website, you'll be able to see what's on offer and help us plan our itinerary for the evening.
  • 9pm Departure - Although the Science Museum remains open until 10pm, some of our group usually leave around 9pm or earlier, particularly when it's a school day the following day.

Important: This is an 18+ only event and is independently organised by CAS Master Teacher and Hub Leader Alan O'Donohoe and friends. Our monthly meetup is neither organised by, nor endorsed by the Science Museum, London.

#SMLates: On the last Wednesday of every month (except December), the Science Museum closes at 6pm and then re-opens again from 6.45pm until 10:00pm for "Lates", an evening packed full of talks, demonstrations and hands-on activities.  If you arrive before doors open at 6.45pm, you'll need to join the lengthy queue outside on Exhibition Road.

Computing At School: (CAS) is a free-to-join education community with many volunteer members that provides support, leadership and strategic guidance to all those involved in Computing education in schools. [More here]

Cancellations: It's not a problem if you register to attend, but then later are unable to attend. If you don't cancel your registration, you'll be invited to future events.
