Aims: This event is to provide teachers with an afternoon packed full of CPD activity focusing on teaching & learning strategies as well as resources for teaching GCSE Computer Science. The event is also suitable also for teachers of Key Stage 3 Computing. It will provide teachers with some tried & tested strategies to ensure successful outcomes for their students when tackling programming assignments (and NEAs for GCSE), assessment, tracking and monitoring activities as well as preparing for examinations. Attendees will be provided with some free resources that teachers can use straight away with their own classes the next day.

Please note you may attend either 2.00-3.45pm, 4.00-5.30pm or both sessions.

Choose only one ticket per teacher accordingly.

14:00 Discussion Activity: Actions and advice following the Ofqual decision on NEAs expected w/c 8 Jan 18.

14:30 Classroom Based Activity: Teaching theory using Flipped Learning

  • Assessing, tracking, monitoring pupil progress
  • Planning student interventions
  • Preparing classes for success in examinations

15:45 Break

16:00 Classroom Based Activity: Pair Programming Pedagogy

  • Modelling strategies to support less confident learners
  • Developing students confidence with problem solving
  • Using a text-based programming language to develop a solution
  • Sharing solutions to benefit all learners
