A professional development programme designed to take IT teachers with no technical background and give them the confidence and competence to start teaching Computer Science.
The course will cover the fundemental theory of computer science and teach the practical programming concepts. Delegates will engage in practical lab sessions and lectures. There will also be home learning tasks in order to consolidate learning and 'take-away' lesson plans for delegates to use in the own classrooms. Below is a brief overview of some of the topics covered.
The course will run across ten, two hour twilight sessions (17:00-19:00). Some workshop based sessions will take place at Knutsford Academy whilst lecture based sessions will take place at the Barclays Global Technology Centre at Radbroke Hall, Knutsford
Knutsford Academy is a Computing At School (CAS) Lead School in the Network of Excellence and this course has been developed by a Computing At School (CAS) Master Teacher. Knustford Academy also host the Computing At School (CAS) Cheshire Hub.
