Great Science Share for Schools - 11th June

The award-winning campaign continuing to inspire 5-14 year olds to take the lead in asking, investigating and sharing scientific questions they care about with new audiences.

The Great Science Share for Schools gives pupils the opportunity to ask questions that matter to them, investigate and share their science with new audiences, with "Sustainable Science" being the theme for this year’s event.

Taking part in the Science Share helps to support key skills and knowledge in science learning including: developing scientific vocabulary, encouraging pupils to explain their thinking, guiding pupils to work scientifically and relating learning to relevant, real world contexts.

Barefoot empowers primary school teachers across the UK to deliver the computing curriculum brilliantly with free teacher workshops, engaging lessons plans and resources, and helpful online guides. Click here to check out the bespoke resources that the Team have put together!

In this session, Laura Knight from Berkhamsted Schools will explore the opportunities and challenges of using artificial intelligence (AI) in education. It will showcase examples of innovative AI applications in schools and provide practical inputs and takeaways about policy and practice.

Featured Resource - Micro:course

The Path to Computing Degrees: Unlocking Opportunities for All Students

In this article, CAS's very own Becci Peters provides an insightful analysis of the increasing accessibility of Computing degrees, particularly for students without prior academic credentials in related fields.

Becci also emphasises the importance of diverse academic backgrounds, debunking the myths that A-Level Maths or prior Computer Science study is essential to entering the space, and argues that this openness enhances the field by incorporating varied perspectives and skills, ultimately fostering a more innovative workforce.
