An activity to inspire and engage the digital ceators of tomorrow
Meet The Geek is an activity that I first devised for use at our Hack To The Future events that we hold to inspire and engage the digital ceators of tomorrow.
You can download a plan for Meet The Geek: https://teknoteacher.makes.org/thimble/MTcwNDk4NDgzMg==/meet-the-geek
You can watch part of an online Teach Computing webinar in which I explain it:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=143WmHbRuVs&feature=youtu.be&t=40m33s
This blog post also gives an insight into Meet The Geek (as part of Hack To The Future) https://teachcomputing.wordpress.com/2012/03/05/hack-to-the-future-bbc-media-city-5thmarch2012/
It’s significant that a high proportion of the children photographed at the Hack To The Future event above, went on to choose GCSE Computing.
Jam Packed is a grant funded project supported by the UK Department for Education, the Raspberry Pi Foundation and RM Education Limited to support the development of the teaching of Computing and provide inspiring & engaging experiences for learners of all ages. Jam Packed achieves this through a roadshow of computing community events, online webinars for teachers and sharing of teaching resources through this site. The computing community events are targeted at areas with high levels of social disadvantage.
