Welcome to the newsletter from your CAS Regional Centre: Lancaster University. We hope you had a restful summer break and have settled into the start of term well.
We have big plans for the upcoming academic year!
We're delighted to welcome four new Master Teachers to the North West area: Wendy Bowe from Cockermouth School, Saqib Chaudhry from Pendle Vale College, Phil Jackson from Runshaw College and Catherine Jermyn from Pendle Primary Academy.
We are delighted to welcome a new hub to the North West. Neil Ireland has setup a hub in Fylde and Wyre. Their hub meeting is on Thursday 13th October in Saint's Aidan's CE High School. Find our more and book your ticket. http://community.computingatschool.org.uk/events/4480
The CAS Burnley and Pendle Hub has always existed but is relaunching on Thursday 20th October at Colne Park High School. Our own Dr Lynne Blair will be there to celebrate with a micro:bit workshop! Book your tickets here http://community.computingatschool.org.uk/events/4404
Hub meetings are great place to meet local teachers teaching the same topics as you. They are a relaxed environment with no commitments to attend or present. Go along, say hi and share your problems. You'll find a very welcoming group of teachers willing to help.
Last year we had a very successful annual conference at Lancaster University. Primary and Secondary Teachers respecticvely and even PGCE students attended from all over the North West.
This year we plan to travel around the North West offering Teacher Training Days to both primary and secondary school teachers. This is in place of our annual conference.
The two first two days are aimed specifically at Primary then Secondary teachers but the rest are training days for all teachers. All teachers, trainees and teaching assistants are welcome to come to any of the days below. Every day is FREE and will have workshops from teachers, lecturers and industry experts. Keep an eye on our Computing At School website for more information
