In addition to sharing good practice, resources, exemplars and schemes of work through hub meetings we can discuss/promote/ achieve the following- 1. Mapping the curriculum/ analysing the requirements at KS3 to make students and staff more aware about the requirements/changes etc 2. Dissecting the computing curriculum (looking at the key areas) and looking at various options to deliver it successfully across key stages 3. Initiatives to work closely with the primary schools in the area/ liaise with the curriculum heads etc 4. Using/promoting/reviewing baseline tests for year 7 and progression 5. Looking at open source options when it comes to delivering computing (especially programming) 6. Looking at various programming languages and sharing expertise e.g. VB.NET (myself)/ advanced programming/ using PHP/My SQL etc 7. Relating theory to practice and identifying mathematical underpinnings 8. Reviewing the resources (books/online material available etc) - checking the quality and depth of resources etc especially for A-Levels/GCSE 9. Linking computing with other subjects (cross-curricular) 10. Shortage of subject specialists/ training ICT teachers to teach computing

The CAS North London Hub is run from the Camden Learning Centre by Gillian Ingram in collaboration with UCL Department of Computer Science and Steve Hailes and Rae Harbird.

UCL Department of Computer Science is a global leader in research in experimental computer science. Its degree programmes recognise the ever-increasing importance of computer systems in fields such as commerce, industry, government and science. Throughout history the department has had a big impact on computing in Europe – notably establishing the first connection to the precursor of the Internet outside the US.
