Minetest is a free to download sandbox game that is similar to Minecraft (the perfect free alternative to Minecraft). It has many of the same features as Minecraft and is easy to set up and use in the classroom. This course will walk you through setting up a server in the classroom, how to `play’ and how it might be used in the curriculum. It will cover areas such as `networks’, `communication and collaboration’, `use of technology safely, respectfully and responsibly’, as well as, `using and combining software’. The session will look at how to set up Minetest, how it can be used in the classroom, links to other curriculum areas. At the end of the session participants will take away a copy of Minetest ready to go (with all essential mods already installed -simply copy to your school computers and away you go).

Barry Price
